A good mattress lasts ten years or more. Every night, though, sweat and moisture get into it, dust and dust mites settle in it, and a single spilled glass of water leaves a stain on the cover. A mattress protector simply prevents all this and keeps your mattress clean and hygienic for its whole life.
What a mattress protector does
- it absorbs sweat and moisture before they reach the mattress filling,
- it protects against dust, dust mites and stains,
- waterproof models also protect the mattress from accidents with liquids, for example with small children or seniors,
- it is easy to take off and wash – a mattress cannot be washed.
Which protector to choose
- ROYAL MICRO – noiseless nanofabric for everyday protection. Resists short-term spills and protects the sides of the mattress too.
- Smartcel – a waterproof, breathable protector made of 100% Tencel, held on the mattress by an elastic band.
- Smartcel Full – the highest protection: waterproof Tencel with a skirt all around, fits like a fitted sheet and protects the sides too.
- Mühldorfer Imprima Clima – a cooling cotton protector for people who sleep hot.
A protector for a deep mattress
Standard protectors are made for mattresses around 20–30 cm deep. On a deep or box-spring mattress they do not reach and slip off. Our ROYAL MICRO and Smartcel protectors fit mattresses up to 45 cm deep. For a deeper or non-standard mattress we make one to measure up to 60 cm – just write to eshop@royalcomfort.cz.
How to care for a protector
Wash the protector about once a month at 60 °C – this temperature kills dust mites and their allergens. Put a fitted sheet over the protector; for deep mattresses we recommend our deep-pocket fitted sheet.
